Project

I recently graduated college, and as a present, my mother gave me her 1985 Monte Carlo SS. She has owned it ever since it was new. It was the very first car that I ever drove so I am emotionally attached to it. :)

When I gained ownership of it in June 2000, it had 96000 miles on it. And most everything is original, with exception of obvious parts such as the battery, alternator, etc. With that in mind, the car is do for a little "restification!"

My project will not begin until my wife and I purchase a house. When that happens, I will have a garage to take everything apart in. We plan on purchasing later this year/early 2002. I will keep you posted.

Engine:
I have the stock L69 305 engine. I plan on pulling the engine out and rebuilding it. I want to add chrome open air cleaner and matching chrome valve covers. I plan on using a K&N Filtercharger filter in the air cleaner. Along with that, I plan on rebuilding the Rochestor Quadrajet also. My Rochestor Carbs book from Amazon should be coming in soon :)

Transmission:
I have the TH200-4R original transmission. I need to replace the TCC Solenoid. While doing this I will add a B&M Transpak Stage2 Shiftkit.

Wheels/Tires:
I have the stock wheels. I will put BF Goodrich Radial T/A 235/60-15 tires on very shortly.

Exterior:
The car has been repainted the orignal color once. But we did not put the decals back on because of the high cost. I plan on fixing some rusting areas at the bottom of the driver's door with POR-15. I would also like to fix a few dents. Ultimately, I would love to repaint it and put back on the GM decals.
